At Leading Edge, we have been working tirelessly to find innovative sustainable solutions for our customers packaging. Below are a few examples of how we have helped our customers work towards a sustainable future in the Flexible Packaging sector.
Wet wipe market
Traditionally the market for wet wipes would utilise a PET/PE mixed laminate, making it hard to recycle. Leading Edge have validated a high barrier mono-LDPE solution. This benefits our customers in avoiding plastic tax and also being able to promote a more sustainable pack offer to consumers. This material is recycle 4, return to store.
Snack bar market
The protein snack bar market has grown considerably in recent years and as such, a sustainable solution was desperately needed. Leading Edge has been able to support this growing market by providing validated options for both plastic-free high barrier paper and mono-PP materials. This material is recycle 5, return to store.
Sachet market
The sachet market is dominated by a standard high-aluminium mixed laminate material, which is not supported by any recycling processes. Leading Edge have been working closely with one of our established customers to support their mission in sustainability, by providing a high barrier, metallised and mono-PP solution, which is proving to offer comparable barrier level properties to traditional aluminium based substrates. This material is recycle class 5, return to store.
Lidding film market
A number of leading supermarkets have stipulated that by 2023, mixed substrates can no longer be used for lidding films. Leading Edge have been able to support customers by validating a secure supply of mono-LDPE material with suitable peeling properties. This material can be claimed as recycle class 4, return to store.
